Countries differ with the nation. If the country is marked by the government, the president and the people. The existence of regulations and laws. While the nation did not need that element, because the nation is a large collection of people who have similarities in the identity, race, culture and history.

So, that meant the nation is that we all are now in a territory that has a history of race and the same. In an analogy, the nation may be compared to a group wishing to achieve a goal and the state is a vehicle that will and made to take the group towards its goal, while the government is the driver, then that is the social contract is an end in itself.

Jean Jacques Rousseau in a book called Du Contract Social, states that the family is the foundation of all community groups and is the only social group most natural. Rousseau explained that the family of a child will remain dependent on her father for the child needs protection. But over time, the child will release its dependence on the father figure, father vice versa will be released from its obligation to maintain and protect her child. Furthermore both the relationship was based on agreement or contract. There are rules agreed upon by both parties.

Jean Jacques Rousseau was a French thinker of Swiss nationality. In his book The 100 A Rankin of the Most Influental Person in History, Michael H. Hart put JJ Rousseau in order to 78. Book Du Social Contract is one of several important works of Rousseau.

Through his book ”Du Contract Social,” Rousseau said that the family is the first model for political society. Likened to a father as a ruler and his children likened to the community. The relationship created is based on the needs or interests. Furthermore, Rousseau said that despite having the same model, but there is a difference between the concept of family and government as both a model of political society. If in the family, the love of a father to return for protection given to children, then in government, rule satisfaction replace the love that does not have authority to the people.

Rousseau in the first part of this book clearly distinguishes the use of the term, governance, power, residents, citizens and society.

State according to Rousseau is a partnership that is passive, while in the active condition is called government. Then in comparison with other forces is called power. Meanwhile, those who joined in the name of the country’s unity is called the population, and when the people associated with the government called a citizen, while associated with the state law is called society.

Government by Rousseau founded by all the individuals composing it, can not have interests that conflict with their interests composing it (the people). Government and the country is the result of the creation of social cohesion, where every individual composing it may have interest to integrate themselves in meeting needs. Over time, interest or general will become more diverse as more and more a completely public, and hence the role of government functions, namely the general will to prioritize which ones should take priority.

In essence, the social contract was created from the start before a state or government up and running. Refer to this social contract, it becomes an obligation for the government to run the country to bring a nation to achieve a common goal. If the goals or interests of the people are ignored or even violated, it means the government has violated the social contract.

In other parts of the book in English translation, entitled The Social Contract, or Principles of Political Right is, Rousseau also explained about the forms of government and the positive and negative sides of them democracy, aristocracy, monarchy, and mixed government. From the explanation of the forms of government, Rousseau insists that not all forms of government could be applicable in all countries, this depends on many factors such as compatibility with the natural and geographical conditions of a country.
